Labour is under pressure over claims that parts of its Net Zero strategy could rely on supply chains linked to forced labour in China’s Xinjiang region.
This centres on GB Energy and the sourcing of solar panels, after ministers resisted tougher rules designed to block public contracts involving companies accused of using forced labour.
Critics say the Government is weakening ethical safeguards in order to accelerate renewable energy projects, while ministers argue existing protections remain in place.
