LNG: WORST deal ever or salvation in the energy crisis?
Since December 2022, Germany has been sourcing liquefied natural gas, or LNG, primarily from the USA. A large proportion of the LNG gas from the USA that arrives in Germany is produced by unconventional fracking, a process that has been banned in Germany since 2017. All with the argument that this will allow us to shut down our coal-fired power plants. Is this an unfair deal? Or is it a necessary evil? And what are the alternatives? In this video, I want to take a closer look at the topic of LNG. I visited LNG terminals and fracking areas in the USA and investigated the question: Is it really a solution to our gas problem or not? Disclaimer: This is a new version of the LNG video. We did a reupload because we did not label the use of AI-generated voices correctly. We replaced the dubbed interviews with subtitled versions. All other parts should be labeled correctly.
