Geoengineering is a hotly debated topic these days. Everything from space mirrors to stratospheric particle injection and marine cloud brightening – all highly challenging proposals with extremely poorly understood consequences. Now a new research paper is proposing dumping large quantities of the northern boreal forests into the Arctic Ocean and then replanting them to capture a whole bunch of new CO2 from the atmosphere. Great plan? Or too many edibles?
