This New Nuclear Battery Could Soon Go On the Market.

The BV100 is a tiny battery that measures only 15 x 15 x 5 millimeters, or about the size of a coin. It uses a radioactive isotope of nickel, called nickel-63, as its energy source. Nickel-63 decays into copper, and in the process, it emits electrons, or beta particles. These electrons are captured by a diamond semiconductor layer, which converts them into electric current. The current can then be used to power any device that requires a 3-volt supply.
